Thierry Bonnin - Le Maine Michaud
Vintner
Most of the village of Saint Simeux is taken up by vineyards of recognised quality; classed as Fins Bois (the most important Cognac terroir), this light, dry soil is particularly suited to growing vines. The sub-soil has a thick layer of limestone compact dating from the Mesozoic era (end of the Jurassic, start of the Cretaceous). “The greatest Cognac brands trust us and we are proud to count famous names like Hennessy and Courvoisier among our regular clients, whose demands for the best quality only increases year after year. My wife Jacqueline and myself draw from the land the strength to carry on the fight each day, in order to leave to our children the farm that makes us love life. At every moment we take renewed pleasure in sharing a lifestyle which, along with a love of food, is so characteristic of France. Our vineyard has kept a certain heterogeneity which is its richness, through the diversity of products that it engenders.”
